I feel that at the end, upon reaching your sister, you are in fact that one that died, and you spend your days going through limbo in hopes that you'll find her. After his death, the nameless boy sets out to murder his sister from beyond the grave. He approaches his sister once, but is unable to kill her and forces himself to walk away. After breaking through the last mental wall preventing him from doing so, the boy finds his sister playing by his grave.
